Aqara, a global leader in Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, has unveiled its latest advancements in smart home technology at IFA 2024. The company’s new product offerings focus on enhancing security, safety, energy efficiency, and interoperability, alongside announcing new partnerships with Home Assistant and Tesla.
Enhanced Security and Safety Solutions
Aqara is doubling down on home security and monitoring with several new innovations:
- Camera Hub G5 Pro: This is Aqara’s first outdoor surveillance camera, featuring True Color Night Vision. The 4MP Camera Hub G5 Pro includes AI capabilities that detect and recognize faces, vehicles, pets, and packages. It offers secure live and recorded video storage with end-to-end encryption and seamlessly integrates with leading platforms like Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings. The built-in Zigbee 3.0 hub connects seamlessly with other smart devices.
- Garage Door Controller T2 Kit: Designed for smart control of up to two garage doors, this kit integrates the garage as a smart access point. Users can monitor and control garage doors through geofencing, voice assistants, and mobile apps. It supports various platforms including Alexa, HomeKit, Google Home, and other Matter-enabled systems.
- Valve Controller T1: This device integrates with leak detectors to automatically shut off water or gas systems in case of leaks. Its retrofit design allows for easy installation on DN15, DN20, and DN25 pipes without requiring major modifications.
- Smoke Detector: Equipped with a robust siren, this smoke detector alerts users with an 85-decibel alarm upon detecting smoke. It features ultra-long battery life of up to 10 years and can trigger alarms on all connected Aqara hubs and grouped detectors.
Expanded Energy Management and Smart Lighting
Aqara is also expanding its product lineup to enhance energy management and smart lighting:
- Thread-Enabled Wall Switches: The new Light Switch H2 EU, Dimmer Switch H2 EU, and Shutter Switch H2 EU offer advanced energy management solutions for the European market. These switches support both Thread and Zigbee protocols, providing flexibility and seamless interoperability.
- LED Bulb T2: This new Thread-enabled LED bulb is available in RGB CCT and CCT versions. It provides a broad range of tunable whites and vibrant colors, with options for Thread or Zigbee communication to suit various smart home setups.
New Matter Capabilities and Integration Partnerships
Aqara continues to enhance its offerings with new integrations and capabilities:
- Advanced Matter Bridging: The Hub M3 now features Advanced Matter Bridging, allowing users to synchronise conditions and actions between Aqara Home and various Matter apps, expanding home automation capabilities.
- Home Assistant Partnership: Aqara joins the Work with Home Assistant program, with initial certifications for the Hub M3, Smart Lock U200, and Motion and Light Sensor P2. More products are expected to receive certification soon.
- Tesla EV Integration: Aqara’s smart home system now integrates with Tesla EVs, allowing users to automate charging and synchronize their EVs with smart home routines, such as turning on the vehicle’s air conditioning during morning coffee preparation.
Intuitive Voice Control with Privacy Focus
- Voice Mate H1: This compact, battery-powered device enhances Aqara’s smart home ecosystem with voice control capabilities. It features a microphone for interaction with Aqara Copilot and prioritizes privacy by activating only when picked up.
