AliExpress, the international online retail marketplace, continues to celebrate the festive season with unbeatable Black Friday deals. Running from 22 November to 3 December, AliExpress offers discounts of up to 80% across a range of popular products. Following the immense success of this month’s Singles’ Day Global Shopping Festival, the platform is continuing the global discount season with exciting offers for shoppers everywhere.
Black Friday Becomes a Key Festive Event Across Europe
Black Friday has quickly become an essential part of the European holiday shopping calendar, marking the beginning of the gift-giving season. A new study by AliExpress reveals that over 90% of Europeans (91.4%) will be purchasing gifts for up to 15 people. On average, these consumers expect to spend more than EUR 50 per gift, highlighting the increasing enthusiasm for holiday shopping in the region.
European Gift-Giving Trends
According to the survey, there are notable regional differences when it comes to holiday spending. In Spain, 95% of consumers intend to buy gifts for up to 15 people, while in the UK, the figure rises to 15% of shoppers who plan to gift more than 15 individuals. Younger shoppers are leading the charge, with Gen Z Europeans (16%) significantly more likely to buy for more than 15 people than Baby Boomers (4%).
Men Spend More on Gifts Than Women
When it comes to spending, men tend to allocate more per gift compared to women. For example, in Italy, men are expected to spend 15% more per gift (EUR 50 vs EUR 43). Similarly, in Poland, men plan to spend 13% more than women (over 215 PLN vs less than 190 PLN), and in France, the gap is 12%, with men spending EUR 62 per gift compared to EUR 54 for women.
The Rarity of Self-Gifting in Europe
Despite the festive spirit, the idea of self-gifting is rare among Europeans. Around 13% of consumers state that they never buy gifts for themselves, with UK shoppers being the least likely to treat themselves. A quarter (25%) of UK consumers refuse to self-gift, compared to just 6% in Spain. Budget constraints (29%) are the most common reason for avoiding self-gifting, with Italy seeing the highest levels of financial reluctance (37%).
Shake and Win Adds Excitement to the Shopping Experience
This Black Friday, AliExpress introduces its popular “Shake and Win” feature, offering consumers the chance to unlock daily rewards. Shoppers can shake their phones or tablets to win prizes, including discount coupons, gaming consoles, wireless headphones, and more. The interactive nature of this promotion adds an exciting element to the shopping experience, further encouraging consumers to engage with the platform.
Fast and Free Delivery Across Europe
AliExpress is committed to providing fast and reliable delivery options to enhance the customer shopping experience. Cross-border deliveries are available within 3-5 days in Spain, 7 days in the UK, Germany, and France, and 7-10 days in Italy. Additionally, the platform offers free shipping and free returns on many products, ensuring a seamless and convenient shopping process for all customers.
